About the Journal

Revista Brasileira de Paleontologia (RBP), founded in 2001, is the official journal of the Sociedade Brasileira de Paleontologia. It is a fully open-access, peer-reviewed journal published quarterly in March, June, September, and December.

RBP publishes original research articles, usually 10 to 40 manuscript pages in length, as well as taxonomic and nomenclatural notes in all areas of Paleontology.

Since 2025, manuscripts have been accepted only in English. Submissions in Portuguese and Spanish were accepted until 31 December 2024. All submissions are evaluated through peer review by experts in the relevant subject area. Proposals for symposium volumes must be discussed in advance with the editors.

The journal is indexed in BIOSIS, Current Contents, GEORef, Latindex, Portal de Periódicos CAPES, Science Citation Index Expanded, Scopus, and Zoological Record, and is a member of Crossref.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content in the belief that making research freely available promotes the global exchange of knowledge.

Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0), which allows non-commercial sharing and reproduction in any medium, provided that the original work is properly cited and remains unmodified. Commercial use and adaptations require prior written permission from Revista Brasileira de Paleontologia.
